Beauty is Pain Sista Girl!!!

So today is the day before Mother's Day and I'm doing my Saturday night roller wrap routine, to get that bounce action for church tomorrow. As I sit here under "Hell's Kitchen" aka the hair dryer, I reflect back on my childhood memories when my mom would fix my hair on Saturday nights. I can recall her combing my hair and me flenching with every stroke. I would cry and fuss about how it hurt and she always say "beauty is pain"....how well do I know! Now eleven years later, I relived that same memory with my daughter, who just like me...fussed about how her neck and head hurts from me fixing her hair....and just like my mom told me and I told my daughter...beauty is pain my love...with a smiles from reflecting.
As a Mahogany Lady, most of us have experienced the pain of getting that press and curl or relaxer from our moms when we were younger. It seems like that pain created a bond with our Them that evolved into memories. Through those Saturday nights hair do's and nail polish sessions, I learned how special it is to be a woman and the importance of self appearances. Those tears of pain helped me realize that I can endure anything and still come out as lovely and beautiful as ever!
On this Mother's Day, it's not about receiving gifts or recognition, it's about me creating those life long memories with my daughter, that my mom and grandmother created with me.

Happy Mother's Day Mahogany ladies!

Special wishes to my mommy Deneice King & Grandma Vernell King!!Xoxo

Short & Sassy 2 Long & Sexy

In August 2009, 3weeks after I got married I decieded to do something that I never had enough guts to do...get a pixie cut!! I'd always admire that hair style and made several attempts to try it but never had the nerve to go through with it.....but on one of August spit fire hot days, I whacked it all off!

Here is the Cut....

Two years later I decided to enter the grow out phase...

Length Check Nov 2011( 6months preggers!)

May 2012 My Current length

My Goal : to keep my hair healthy and continue growing it until it reaches mid-back length!
Im also going to try the Roller Set Challenge that everyones been talking about!!! =)

The process: Im exstatic about every little inch of new growth. I will relax my ebony locks every eight to twelve weeks instead of every six weeks. I will shampoo my hair once every week, while commiting to continuous rollersetting for six months to see if I notice any positive changes. Also end trims every six weeks will help with any breakage.

I will not: Use the flat iron unless its for my roots, harsh sprits, or braids with tension.

What I use for healthy hair: Organics Olive Oil Wrap/ Setting lotion, Aphogee moisturizing shampoo and the 2 Minute Reconstructing Treatment, Cream of Nature leave in conditioner and Organics Olive Oil sheen spray. For the roller set challenge I'm going to use magnetic rollers and flexi rods.

I will keep you guys updated on my progress and if you have any other great products I should try please let me know!!!!

Bouncy hair & High Heels

As I sit on the sofa and watch my hubby mindlessly play Madden (Eagles v. Cowboys), I look at him with an raised eyebrow.... How is it that men can sit in front of a video game for hours with no complaints...but as soon as you give them a "honey-do"... the complaints of how much time they lack begins!!! I'm just saying can we turn the game off and maybe, just maybe we will have enough time to do everything???
Well that's my "oh boy moment for tonight....deep sigh... Today is my first day blogging and I'm so excited. I've always wanted to be a "Blogger" O_o but never had the time to set it up. What better day to start than on a Sunday, Right? My Sundays are very low key,  ..... my hubby and I took the kiddies to church and followed by take-out from Old Chicago. I think Sunday's are my fav day of the week, maybe because it's my best hair days and I have a reason to dress up! Shallow right?! I know.  Every Saturday or Friday....I have this thing where I must shampoo and style my hair for church. It may just be a "Southern Thang" but it's just something about going to church with that bouncy roller wrap hair and high heels!!! So womanly right???Anywho.....In every blog post that I write I promise there will be some sort of lesson learned, inspiration or my opinion on something....anything...that will give meaning to reading my entries. Except for tonight. ***Smiles and winks***
